While tutors are generally accepted to be very un-75%, here they work fantastically to balance your deck to your playgroup. That might seem like a bold statement but hear me out. He is what I would consider one of, if not the best 75% generals ever. He's incredibly reliable in being both a controlling toolbox and a doomsday clock. If not dealt with, him ticking to 5 is where things get REALLY nasty for your opponents. While I don't run many threats under cmc 5, it is important to note he IS a clock, if a slow one. Things that turn your inevitable field of cheap dorks into their own threats are also great. You're constantly controlling the board, so the best threats are creatures that stand on their own to win the game if not dealt with, or that are hard to deal with, whether you can cheat them out or not. One thing I see a lot of people forgoing is creatures that you won't be able to yisan out - hydras or creatures with large cmcs. His threats NEED to stand on their own if playing in a control style. Playing this style also helps negate his biggest flaw it doesn't matter how slow you are if you are continually disrupting game plans. Cheating uncounterable creatures in at instant-speed along with him obviously lending himself to a tool-box strategy make him an excellent commander for control. Sure he's slow, but he's INCREDIBLY reactive. The most effective way to run him, imho, is mono-green control. While there are ways to speed him up, he is still rather slow, which leads to the second point. This is the first thing people comment about him, but it does deserve pointing out. Yes!!! Yisan is great!! I've been running him since he came out, and here are some tips I'd give on him.

Keep the comments and decklists coming and you might see your deck in print next week. Not sure what a 75% deck is? This article and the articles it links are a great resource and I am on hand to answer questions.Īs always, I couldn't continue this project without the support of this subreddit. What do we think? Did I not make it powerful enough? Can we juice it more without making it super linear? Is there room for more sweet fatties? Let me know what you think. The result is a deck that looks like a lot of fun. Yisan is great with multiple activations in a turn so I maximized the untap effects for him. 75% doesn't mean lame so I added a lot of doubling effects like Wild Pair and Doubling Season.

I thought it was a pretty good starting point so I made a few of my own modifications and put in stuff I like to play. It was about a year ago and there are cards printed since then that would work well in the deck. Recently, I decided to tackle Yisan and was delighted to find that someone had constructed what they called a 75% Yisan, the Wanderer Bard deck.
